Reading
We are continuing our study of newspapers. The format will continue as per last weeks homework, reading at least 5 articles from a newspaper and reporting back to your group.
To support your journalistic role it would be advantageous to select articles which support the area you have been tasked to complete in the creation of the newspaper at the end of the week.
See previous blog messages to remind you of points to report back on.
At least one of the articles should be where the journalist is providing an OPINION on a news item. Highlight key sentences which are the writers or others opinion.
Writing - Magazine Article
You are going to
plan a magazine article on ‘Food Packaging.” Think about what is wrong with
some food packaging. Think of some arguments you might put to food
manufacturers and express your objections. Brainstorm sections for your article.
E.g
- An introductory paragraph
- What is over packaging?
- Why is it a problem?
- Why do food manufacturer do it?
- Examples of over packaging
- Examples of sensible packaging
- What can you do?
Make brief notes
against each sub heading. Think of a good headline for the article, using
alliteration, rhyme or punning?
